This last Sunday in John 17:6-11a we focused in on why Jesus prays for His disciples. The major reason is that if you are a child of God, you are the possession of both the Father and the Son, therefore Jesus prays for you. Below is the text that we considered together along with some cross references that reinforce the fact that as a child of God you are possessed by Him and prayed for by Jesus your High Priest. Its Wednesday and many things have already taken place in this week. Let these Words wash over your soul and reorient you to what is true about your standing before God in Christ Jesus:
- John 17:6-11 “I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. 7 “Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; 8 for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me. 9 “I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours; 10 and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them. 11 “I am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You.

- Romans 8:33-34 Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
